Job summary

Montefiore seeks a Plant Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the hospital plant, including steam and plumbing shops, ensuring safe and efficient operation for approx. 2,000,000 square feet of patient care areas.

The role requires at least 5 years in plant operations and 2+ years supervising in healthcare; strong knowledge of steam/plumbing systems, reading blueprints, and CMMS experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in plant operations, mechanical systems, or facilities maintenance.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory or lead experience in a facilities, institutional, or healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversees day-to-day operations of the Steam and Plumbing shops; assigns work and monitors performance.
• Directs preventive and corrective maintenance for plant utilities, steam distribution, pumps, valves, and related equipment.
• Ensures compliance with codes and hospital standards (Joint Commission, NFPA, DOB, DOH).
• Performs routine inspections of mechanical spaces, utility systems, and equipment to verify optimal performance.
• Coordinates maintenance activities to support uninterrupted patient care operations.
• Assists Chief Engineer in planning, coordinating, and monitoring projects.
• Oversees contractor work, ensuring safety, scope adherence, and schedules.
• Maintains documentation and logs for inspections and compliance.
