Job summary

Labcorp in Mobile, AL is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our team at Mobile Infirmary Hospital. This casual/per diem position requires venipuncture and capillary sampling across all ages, with data entry and patient interaction in a fast-paced setting.

The role involves travel to additional sites as needed, with evening and weekend hours. A high school diploma or GED, and phlebotomy certification or training are required; one year of phlebotomy experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or phlebotomy certification or completed training program or 3 months or more experience as a phlebotomist.
• Preferred: 1 year or more of phlebotomy experience.
• Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency is acceptable in lieu of work experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups.
• Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests etc.
• Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner.
• Process billing information and collect payments as necessary.
• Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis.
• Maintain patient and specimen information logs.
• Provide superior customer service to all patients.
• Travel to additional sites when needed.

Work Schedule

This is a casual/per diem position, hours will be as needed. Start and end times will vary on from Monday- Friday 10:00pm - 6am and weekends.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups
• Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests etc.
• Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
• Process billing information and collect payments as necessary
• Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis
• Maintain patient and specimen information logs
• Provide superior customer service to all patients
• Administrative and clerical duties as necessary
• Travel to additional sites when needed

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent Phlebotomy certification or completed training program or 3 months or more experience as a phlebotomist

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year or more of phlebotomy experience

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of work experience, a Phlebotomy certification or completed training program must come from an accredited agency
• Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment
• Comfortable working under minimal supervision
• Reliable transportation
• Flexibility to work overtime
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
