Job summary

Labcorp, a global leader in diagnostic testing, seeks a Hospital Phlebotomist at USA Health - Providence Hospital in Mobile to join our casual/per diem team. You will perform venipuncture and capillary collections, ensure accurate data entry, and support specimen processing with a focus on patient service.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, phlebotomy certification or training, and be able to work with diverse age groups. Travel to other sites may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent Phlebotomy certification or completed training program.
• 1 year or more phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Must pass a color vision test and have the ability to perform color-dependent tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all ages.
• Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests, etc.
• Enter patient information accurately and timely.
• Process billing information and collect payments as necessary.
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
• Maintain patient and specimen logs.
• Provide superior customer service to patients.
• Perform administrative and clerical duties as needed.
• Travel to additional sites when required.

Work Schedule: This is a casual/per diem position, hours will be as needed. Start and end times will vary between Monday- Friday including weekends and holidays.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups
• Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests etc.
• Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
• Process billing information and collect payments as necessary
• Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis
• Maintain patient and specimen information logs
• Provide superior customer service to all patients
• Administrative and clerical duties as necessary
• Travel to additional sites when needed

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent Phlebotomy certification or completed training program or 3 months or more experience as a phlebotomist

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year or more of phlebotomy experience

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of work experience, a Phlebotomy certification or completed training program must come from an accredited agency
• Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment
• Comfortable working under minimal supervision
• Reliable transportation
• Flexibility to work overtime
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
