Job summary

Western Missouri Medical Center is seeking a Phlebotomist to support efficient lab workflow, ensure proper patient registration and order accuracy, and enter orders into the computer. You will collect specimens from inpatients and outpatients, perform DOT/Non-DOT UDS, and BAT on-site, while handling calls and maintaining documentation.

Responsibilities include obtaining signed orders, medical necessity, ABNs and diagnosis codes, processing reports, and collaborating with physicians and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical assistant or phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Current AHA BLS required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Phlebotomy experience within hospital setting preferred.
• Excellent customer relation skills and ability to communicate under stress.

Responsibilities

• Enter information for laboratory orders into the computer.
• Obtain complete documentation for orders, diagnoses, and ABNs.
• Process lab reports and convey results as needed.
• Learn to collect DOT and Non-DOT UDS and perform BAT on site within 6 months.
• Answer calls and direct to proper areas.
• Perform phlebotomy across all ages and interact positively with staff and patients.
• Support the lab’s mission and maintain attendance.
