Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for per diem, 8-hour rotating shifts. You will dispense medications under pharmacist supervision, handle Pyxis operations, and manage inventory in a fast-paced hospital setting in Los Angeles, CA.

Qualified candidates hold a CA Pharmacy Technician License, hospital experience, and proficiency with aseptic technique. Competitive hourly pay and union benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician School.
• Pharmacy Technician Registration with CA State Board.

Responsibilities

• Under pharmacist supervision, prepare and distribute medications for patient use.
• Operate Pyxis dispensing system and ensure proper barcoding of medications.
• Maintain controlled substance inventory using Pyxis system (Keck only).
• Prepare and dispense medications with pharmacist verification.
• Assist in chemotherapy prep with Texium system.
• Handle charges and billing for medications.
• Maintain a safe, clean pharmacy by following procedures and regulations.
• Document pharmacy logs meticulously.
• Complete monthly expiration medication assignments and repackaging/unit-dosing where needed.
• Use Cerner/PowerChart/Pyxis to triage workflow for efficient medication delivery.
