Job summary

Massachusetts General Hospital is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to support the pharmacy department at 32 Fruit Street, Boston. Under pharmacist supervision, you will perform routine duties, prepare and distribute medications, and assist with inventory and training.

The role requires a High School Diploma and state licensure (PTCB preferred). Experience in hospital pharmacy is preferred; on-site, 40 hours per week with rotating shifts. Pay range is $21.75 - $26.58 hourly.

Qualifications

• State Pharmacy Technician license required
• CPhT certification preferred
• 2–3 years hospital pharmacy technician experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and delivery of pharmaceutical supplies and medications in accordance with laws and regulations.
• Deliver medications to patient care areas.
• Utilize robotics, automation, software, equipment, and information systems.
• Perform cycle counts as necessary.
• Under supervision of a Pharmacist, perform dosage calculations for extemporaneous dosage forms as applicable.
• May prepare sterile products and handle controlled substances under proper control.
• Receive and sort shipments of medications and supplies.
• Recommends drug-related labs and interprets results when appropriate.
• Deliver and stock pharmacy inventory.
• Assist training of junior staff.
• Provide information and triage phone calls within the pharmacy department.
