Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the medication distribution process under the supervision of a pharmacist. This role includes handling IV room operations, Pyxis tasks, packaging unit-dose medications, and ensuring accurate labeling and efficient workflow within a hospital pharmacy setting.

Qualified candidates should have a high school diploma and Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician licensure, with preferred national certification and at least one year of hospital

Qualifications

• High School diploma
• Licensed as a Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy
• National Pharmacy Technician certification (preferred)
• Baseline understanding of automated dispensing systems, technology and IV room processes
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to read, write and speak clearly in English
• Minimum one year of experience in a hospital pharmacy (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone calls and triage requests to the pharmacist staff
• Triages window requests from customers
• Deliver medications to patient care areas and manage orders
• Assist with Pyxis inventory, stocking, and dispensing tasks
• Accurately package unit-dose medications with proper labeling
• Support IV room operations and USP 797 compliant processes
• Identify quality and efficiency improvements in workflow
