Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Inc. seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support inpatient and outpatient medication preparation and distribution in a busy hospital setting.

You will replenish Pyxis machines, assist pharmacists, handle sterile compounding tasks, and ensure proper inventory and documentation while maintaining safety and accuracy in daily operations. The role requires a High School Diploma, 2 years hospital experience, sterile compounding experience, and active certification

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2 years of hospital pharmacy technician experience.
• 1 year of sterile compounding experience.
• CPhT - Certification upon hire; RPT - State certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff in line with Jefferson values.
• Prepares drug orders for review and dispensing by a Registered Pharmacist.
• Replenishes Pyxis machines and monitors refrigerator temperatures.
• Counts, compounds and repackages pharmaceuticals per procedures.
• Dispenses medications and manages inventory and restocks across departments and nursing units.
• Handles billing/crediting functions to ensure proper medication billing and documents waste.
• Picks up physician orders and assists pharmacists as needed.
• Maintains clean, organized work areas and restocks carts with proper documentation.
• Uses aseptic techniques to prepare IVs and transports them to the nursing floors.
• Maintains competencies for IV lab, Pyxis, McKesson Automation and CAPS.
• Performs inspections and ensures proper storage and handling of medications.
