The ideal candidate will be registered by the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy, complete the national certification within a year, and have strong clerical skills. This is a full-time position reporting to the Department Manager.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills required.
• Familiarity with filing and clerical work.
• Computer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient name, date of birth, prescriber, and address for the prescription.
• Obtains drug name or RX number for refills.
• Enters information into the computer to generate prescription labels.
• Retrieves medication from stock.
• Counts tablets/capsules or pours liquids in quantities.
• Places medications in containers and affixes labels.
• Assists pharmacists in preparing and reconstituting medications.
• Answers/directs calls to the pharmacists.
• Enters information for processing electronic claims with insurers.
• Assists in re-ordering items for prescription and OTC departments.
• Manages inventory and restocking.
