Job summary

WakeMed Health & Hospitals is seeking a Pharmacy Technician III to support pharmacists in pharmacotherapy services, including sterile compounding, pediatrics, medication history, and inventory control. The role includes project work outside normal duties, staff training, and collaboration with leadership to implement technician competency.

Qualified candidates will have NC Pharmacy Board registration, and be a Certified Pharmacy Technician with 7+ years of hospital pharmacy experience.

Qualifications

• Registration with NC Board of Pharmacy required.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician required.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• College courses in Pharmacy preferred.
• 7 years pharmacy tech hospital experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs specialized functions to assist pharmacists in pharmacotherapy services, including sterile compounding, controlled substance oversight, pediatrics, medication history, patient assistance, inventory control, medstation maintenance, unit inspection, packaging, bedside discharge service.
• Assumes responsibility for at least one pharmacy-related project outside normal duties determined by supervisor/manager including workflow redesign, performance improvement, safety, quality control, regulatory, administrative, staff development, and technology.
• Trains and mentors new employees and/or students in procedures and serves as a mentor for less experienced staff.
• Works with pharmacy leadership to develop & implement staff competency for technicians, pharmacists or other health care professionals.
