Job summary

CPS, part of the Optum family, is seeking a per diem Pharmacy Technician to support medication preparation, dispensing, and distribution at East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital in Los Angeles, CA.

You will work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, with shifts up to 19 hours per week, in a role focused on accuracy, efficiency, and patient safety. The position offers competitive hourly pay and opportunities for growth within UnitedHealth Group family.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current California Pharmacy Technician license in good standing.
• Recent work experience as a Pharmacy Technician, in an acute care hospital setting.
• IV Compounding Experience.
• Proficiency with pharmacy software.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and dispenses medications by measuring, counting, labeling and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Assists pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency.
• Prepares and compounds medications (including IV admixtures and sterile products) following hospital protocols and USP standards.
• Delivers medications to patient care areas, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and nursing units.
• Maintains medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates.
• Supports medication safety initiatives, including double-checks, labeling, and documentation.
• Collaborates with pharmacists, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure timely and safe medication delivery.
• Complies with hospital policies and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and state/federal regulations.
• Answers phone calls and questions.
