Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II/III to support pharmacists in preparing medications for patient use, including oral and parenteral forms, and to help with distribution, records, and billing processes. Dependent on experience, the role may be filled at Tech II or Tech III level.

Candidates should have California license, CPhT certification, and inpatient experience to ensure accurate medication histories and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required.
• Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy required.
• 2–5 years of inpatient pharmacy technician experience.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations.
• Proven computer experience and accurate data entry skills.
• Excellent detail and organizational skills; ability to manage workload within deadlines.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in preparation of medications for patient use (oral and parenteral).
• Assist in distribution of medications, record keeping, and billing functions.
• Maintain inventory levels and perform operational duties in assigned areas.
• Assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties.
• Assist in performing best possible medication histories for patients.
