Job summary

Saint Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Pharmacy Buyer to coordinate timely and accurate inventory of pharmacy and IV supplies. You will manage procurement, keep stock levels optimal, support barcoding, and optimize cost efficiency within the pharmacy system.

Qualifications

• Two years of pharmacy experience required.
• Pharmacy Technician AR certification required.
• High School graduate or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates all pharmaceutical ordering for the Pharmacy Department via non-stock requisitions and follow-up.
• Coordinates centralized procurement of high-cost, low-use or nominally priced items for efficiency and savings.
• Procures emergency supplies involving suppliers and transportation; minimizes emergency purchases through coordination with staff.
• Reviews and approves orders with the Regional Procurement Manager to ensure contract compliance and shares info with staff.
• Coordinates centralized procurement of medications in short supply via wholesaler or manufacturer.
• Meets regional and system-wide inventory turn rate goals.
• Oversees regional electronic pharmacy purchasing and troubleshoots issues.
• Maintains the electronic database including 340B issues where applicable.
• Acts as primary contact with carousel database vendor for software updates and regulatory ordering changes.
• Trains pharmacy employees responsible for purchasing and new staff on the Carousel system.
• Deletes obsolete or recalled pharmaceuticals and returns them to wholesaler/manufacturer for credit.
