Job summary

Children's of Alabama Pharmacy at Main Campus is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support the central and satellite pharmacy services. The role emphasizes procurement, medication preparation, order verification, and distribution within a busy children's hospital environment.

The position requires Alabama licensure as a Pharmacy Technician, national certification, and a high school diploma, with preference for prior staff-level pharmacy experience.

Qualifications

• Licensure, Certifications, and/or Registries required as listed: Alabama Pharmacy Technician License; Certified Pharmacy Technician Certificate; NHA or PTCB certification.
• Essential qualifications include: Certified Pharmacy Technician NHA or PTCB; High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of staff-level experience in pharmacy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee 24/7 pharmacy operations across central and satellite locations.

Work schedule will be 7on / 7off on the Day Shift, Monday-Sunday, 7am-5pm.

Summary:
Responsible for planning and management of all functions relating to obtaining pharmaceuticals and supplies necessary for the operation of the Pharmacy and associated departments of the hospital.

The Pharmacy Department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide excellent pharmaceutical care to Children’s of Alabama Patients. Services include, compounding of sterile and non-sterile medication, pharmacokinetics, medication order verification, OR preference bags, hazardous medication dispensing and compounding, clinical pharmacy services, unit-dosing of medication, automatic dispensing machines (Pyxis), investigational study pharmacy, medication delivery and more. The pharmacy operates out of a central pharmacy located in the Benjamin Russell building. Decentralized services are provided by clinical pharmacists on the units and several pharmacy satellites (main campus OR, Children’s South, hematology/oncology clinic, Investigational Pharmacy). The pharmacy utilizes Epic, Epic Willow Inventory, bar code scanning, vertical carousels, and kit management software.
