Job summary

Southeast Health in Alabama is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacist and help provide medications safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities include stocking automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis), preparing medications for cart fill and restocking, packaging medications for unit dose use, and supporting OR/Anesthesia teams as assigned. Licensure and national certification are required or preferred per policy.

Qualifications

• Experience with automated dispensing machines preferred, but not required.
• Experience in sterile compound preparation preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Stock and maintain Pyxis cabinets and automate dispensing processes.
• Prepare medications for cart fill and automated dispensing cabinet restocks.
• Package medications for unit dose use.
• Handle narcotics as required for Pyxis restocks.
• Answer telephone calls to the pharmacy and assist as needed.
• Assist pharmacist and other staff with routine tasks.
• Sterile IV compounding per USP 797 guidelines if assigned to IV or cancer center areas.
• Maintain cleanliness of all pharmacy areas as assigned.
• Interview patients and compile home medication lists (if applicable).
• Restock anesthesia carts if assigned to OR Pharmacy.
• Support OR and Anesthesia staff with medication needs as directed.
