Job description

MUST have Hospital Laboratory experience.

Bring your leadership skills to Northern California as a Hospital Lab Manager and turn scientific excellence into exceptional patient care—one accurate result at a time!

The Hospital Lab Manager will join a mission-driven, patient-first healthcare organization known for compassionate care, strong clinical standards, and a commitment to safety, quality improvement, and community service. This hospital supports clinician growth through collaborative leadership, continuing education, evidence-based practices, modern diagnostic resources, and opportunities to improve workflows and measurable outcomes. Healthcare professionals can also enjoy the stability of a respected regional provider that continues to invest in accessible services, interdisciplinary teamwork, staff wellbeing, and whole-person care.

Reporting to the Director of Laboratory Services, the Hospital Lab Manager will receive administrative and operational support while overseeing daily Laboratory performance, staffing, quality, compliance, service delivery, and continuous improvement. The Clinical Lab Manager will lead a vital Laboratory that supports comprehensive, community-focused care close to home, spanning emergency and acute services, advanced diagnostics and imaging, surgery, women’s and maternity care, rehabilitation, oncology, cardiology, orthopedics, behavioral health, and primary care—all guided by a mission-driven commitment to whole-person service. The Lab supports timely diagnosis and treatment across the care continuum, giving the Laboratory Manager broad exposure to complex testing, high-priority clinical needs, quality initiatives, and multidisciplinary patient care.

The Laboratory Manager will bring at least four years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Generalist and a minimum of two years of leadership experience with direct supervisory responsibility for staff. The ideal Hospital Lab Manager will also have experience participating in or leading CAP, TJC, and/or COLA inspections, along with hands-on responsibility for verifying and validating new laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Strong technical expertise across the clinical laboratory is essential, with particular strength in Blood Bank operations.

The Clinical Lab Manager will apply a solid understanding of statistical analysis to quality control, method evaluation, performance monitoring, productivity, and operational decision-making. This Laboratory Manager should also understand the clinical laboratory business model, including budgeting, financial management, supply utilization, materials management, staffing productivity, and strategic resource allocation. The successful leader will balance regulatory compliance and technical accuracy with sound financial stewardship and responsive customer service.

Living in the greater Bay Area and Northern California region gives the Hospital Lab Manager access to a lifestyle that blends a vast array of different nature environments while close to San Francisco.
