Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Hospital Laboratory Director for HCA Houston West in Houston, TX. Responsible for directing lab operations, staffing, compliance with CAP/JCAHO/CLIA, and leading departmental strategy to improve patient care and efficiency.

Requirements include a baccalaureate degree in medical technology or related field, MT certification, and 3+ years of management experience in a hospital lab. Master’s degree preferred; COVID-19 vaccination as per policy may apply.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry is required.
• Master’s Degree is preferred.
• National Certification as a Medical Technologist is required.
• 3+ years of progressive laboratory management experience is required.
• Hospital clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
• Vaccination against COVID-19 is required or per applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

• Directs laboratory operations, programs and activities to meet regulatory and organizational goals.
• Ensures staffing is adequate through timely hiring, orientation and performance management.
• Coaches staff and provides regular feedback and development opportunities.
• Sets department strategies to meet service, quality, compliance and financial targets.
• Oversees budgeting, vendor relationships and supply contracts.
• Communicates plans to staff and fosters open, collaborative operations.

Education

Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry

Master’s Degree preferred

National Certification as a Medical Technologist

3+ years progressive laboratory management experience

Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred
