Job summary

Alameda Health System is seeking a Kitchen Helper at Alameda Hospital for the AHD Dietary Services. The role supports food preparation, service, and adherence to safety standards in a per diem capacity, with duties spanning stock management, meal service, temperature logs, and sanitation.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with experience in food service and Serve Safe certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required (waived for incumbent employees).
• Experience in food service desired.
• Serve Safe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adequate stock of food and supplies at all times; report shortages.
• Serve meals attractively; portion as directed and deliver to designated areas.
• Monitor refrigerator/freezer temperatures and log readings.
• Keep work area clean; maintain equipment and report issues.
• Maintain proper food temperatures and record logs.
• Prepare/pre-portion food for regular and therapeutic diets using recipes.
• Serve resident meals per menu and diet orders; use portion controls.
• Wash dishes; track water temps and sanitizer; assist with receiving supplies.
• Handle cash transactions accurately and maintain cash security.
