Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to install, service, and repair refrigeration, heat pumps, and related equipment across on-site and off-site locations. You will read blueprints, perform preventive maintenance, ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, and support training of new associates.

A high school diploma and Universal Refrigeration Certification, plus 3 years in the field, are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training preferred.
• Universal Refrigeration Certification required.
• 3 years of experience installing and repairing HVAC/R equipment.
• Knowledge of chemical water treatment, testing and analysis.
• Knowledge of electrical controls and electrical theory related to HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of temperature control systems.
• Knowledge of indoor air quality standards.
• Blueprint reading skills and familiarity with state/local codes.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and determine repair needs to prevent breakdowns of HVAC systems.
• Install, maintain, repair, troubleshoot and overhaul HVAC/R equipment; replace parts as needed.
• Read blueprints and install equipment per specifications; update as-built drawings.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems at various sites.
• Operate and adjust HVAC systems to achieve target temperatures and humidity.
• Inspect and maintain hospital equipment like chillers, cooling towers and air handlers.
• Test and treat boiler water in closed-loop systems and cooling tower water.
• Assist in snow removal and operate related heavy equipment as required.
