Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking an HVAC Mechanic I to perform maintenance, repairs, and installations across Nutley facilities. You will work with pumps, air handlers, compressors, and BAS controls, ensuring reliable climate systems for patients and staff.

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, on-the-job HVAC training, and ability to lift heavy equipment; candidates should be comfortable with shifts, indoor/outdoor work, and operating building automation systems.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED; on-the-job training for HVAC Mechanic.
• Experience: Troubleshooting pneumatic controls incl. valves and thermostats with computer control systems.
• Physical: ability to work on ladders/ceiling and in various environments; shifts and unscheduled repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on pumps, air handlers, compressors, A/C units and BAS controls.
• Maintain all A/C testing equipment; keep shop neat and organized.
• Install, repair, and improve HVAC systems; handle lifting and manipulation of equipment and tools.
• Use electrical and mechanical tools and equipment to complete tasks; monitor gauge readings and log data.
