Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services worker to clean patient rooms and operating spaces, transport supplies, and support timely patient discharges. The role requires adherence to safety and infection-control protocols and participation in hospital-wide safety programs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year experience within healthcare environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleans patient rooms after vaginal deliveries, separating/removing waste as per policy.
• Cleans operating rooms after each case and performs terminal cleaning as per policy.
• Transports labs as needed in a timely manner.
• Transports, discharges patients in a timely manner.
• Cleans wheelchairs after each patient use.
• Monitors use of cleaning supplies, advises supervisor with reordering needs.
• Maintains linen cart organized, neat, and covered.
• Maintains cleanliness of patient pantry areas, lounges, restrooms, call rooms, and offices daily, and breast pumps/ rooms.
• Is knowledgeable and adheres to infant abduction prevention program.
• Follows Bereavement policy. Take the body to the morgue and logs it in.
• Takes blood specimens as needed.
• During emergency situations, makes themselves readily available to take specimens or obtain supplies as needed.
• Adheres to standard precautions in the performance of daily activities.
