Job summary

University Health seeks an Interior/Exterior Maintenance Worker B at UH Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. This full-time role supports building and grounds upkeep with a 40-hour workweek, scheduled 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, in the Physical Plant department.

The position requires hands-on grounds maintenance, equipment operation, and coordination with external service providers. Strong safety awareness and clear communication with hospital staff and contractors are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience in grounds maintenance including equipment repair.
• Ability to operate a riding and push mower, snowblower, and various hand tools.
• Knowledge of safety practices.
• Ability to direct outside grounds operations.
• Written and verbal communication skills to direct contract work and maintain records.
• Ability to coordinate with hospital staff and contract service agencies.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and performs minor preventative maintenance on a variety of powered and nonpowered equipment.
• Performs grounds and lawn maintenance, snow/ice removal, and related tasks around buildings and grounds.
• Assists maintenance engineers and workers with tasks and may guide external service providers when lawn, snow removal, and trash services are contracted.
• Work performed with independence but may receive direction from higher level peers.
