Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL is looking for a Food Service Assistant III to join the Food And Nutritional Services-Patient team. The role supports inventory, food preparation, tray delivery, and sanitation across the kitchen and patient areas.

Responsibilities include assisting cooks, maintaining sanitary conditions, and aiding with production, warehousing, and training as needed. Shift 4 with 8-hour schedule; prior FSAII experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED preferred.
• Must communicate verbally and in writing in English.
• Active team player with good interpersonal skills.
• Basic math skills required for operations.
• Able to operate foodservice equipment like dish machines and scrubbers.
• Elementary cooking skill and experience with institutional equipment.
• Six months or more as a FSAII preferred.
• Able to tolerate working near hot equipment and hazards.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, set up, convey, transport, and store food and trays as directed.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of surfaces and equipment.
• Assist with food production and portioning tasks as directed.
• Receive and store deliveries; rotate stock and assist with paperwork as needed.
• Operate dish machinery and ware washing activities.
• Help train personnel as assigned and follow policies.
