Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health in New London, CT is seeking a Housekeeper to perform floor cleaning, refinishing, and shampooing carpets and furniture, and to support moves within the Environmental Services Department.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and customer service or cleaning experience; must speak and understand English. Duties include maintaining equipment, responding to emergencies, and ensuring a clean, safe environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience or ability required.
• Cleaning experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service when dealing with patients, visitors and other staff members.
• Shampoo carpets and furniture according to department policies and procedures.
• Move furniture and belongings during department or individual moves.
• Provide detailed cleaning in patient, as well as non-patient areas as assigned by Environmental Services Supervisor.
• Strip and wax floors according to department policies and practices.
• Maintains equipment in clean working order at all times.
• Responds to emergency calls and provides necessary services.
• Fills in for Housekeeper / Porter as directed by supervisor.
• Meets performance expectations for Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, and Staff and Self Development as outlined in performance review.
• Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
