Job description

Hospital Financial Controller for a roughly 100-bed, fully Joint Commission-accredited nonprofit acute care hospital, where supportive leadership, technology-enabled decision-making, professional growth, community impact, and the quality of life in central Ohio create a standout healthcare leadership opportunity in 2026.

The Hospital Accounting Director will join a mission-driven healthcare organization known for delivering high-level clinical services with a modern, community-focused approach to care. Because sound financial stewardship directly supports safe staffing, reliable equipment, sustainable clinical programs, and an excellent patient experience, this role offers visible impact across hospital operations. Experienced professionals exploring hospital careers or healthcare management jobs will find an environment where thoughtful analysis, strong controls, and responsive financial partnership can advance both organizational stability and frontline care.

Within Financial Services, the Hospital Financial Controller will help shape a disciplined, service-oriented Financial Operations function supporting a roughly 100-bed nonprofit acute care facility. The department serves as a critical partner to leaders across nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, imaging, therapy, medical staff operations, and other clinical services, translating financial information into practical guidance for responsible resource allocation. In this fully Joint Commission-accredited hospital, the Controller can gain broad exposure to the financial dynamics of high-level clinical services while strengthening workflows, reporting, accountability, and the infrastructure behind modern community-focused care.

The Hospital Financial Controller will collaborate closely with executive and operational leadership, with the specific reporting relationship discussed during the recruitment process. Day-to-day scope may include accounting operations, month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, audit preparation, reconciliations, regulatory compliance, budgeting support, variance analysis, cash and balance-sheet oversight, and process improvement appropriate to an acute care hospital. The Controller will also partner with clinical and administrative leaders to clarify financial performance, evaluate operational needs, improve workflow efficiency, and support well-informed decisions without losing sight of patient safety, access, or quality. Hospital finance experience, a strong command of accounting principles, and the judgment to communicate complex findings clearly will position a candidate to succeed.

For an accomplished Hospital Accounting Director, this opportunity offers more than responsibility for accurate financial statements; it provides a platform to lead, optimize, mentor, and influence the future of a community hospital. The role can deepen expertise in nonprofit healthcare finance, reimbursement, compliance, audit readiness, analytics, and cross-functional leadership while creating pathways toward broader financial or executive management. A professional who values autonomy, approachable leadership, predictable priorities, continuing development, and meaningful collaboration will find the scope to strengthen Financial Services while building a compelling next chapter in a healthcare leadership career.

Living and working in central Ohio gives the Hospital Financial Controller access to the energy of the Columbus region while preserving a choice of urban, suburban, and smaller-community lifestyles. The area offers extensive parks and multiuse trails, Ohio State athletics, professional sports, concerts, museums, diverse restaurants, major universities, and convenient air travel through John Glenn Columbus International Airport. Signature experiences such as the Ohio State Fair add to a lively calendar, while varied housing markets and commute patterns allow healthcare professionals to choose the setting that best fits their priorities.

The Hospital Financial Controller can expect competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package aligned with the scope of this healthcare leadership position, with full details provided during the recruitment process.
