Job summary

Beloit Health System is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to support the Engineering team and keep hospital facilities safe and functional. The role involves maintenance, repair, and preventive tasks across hospital spaces to ensure building systems and equipment operate properly.

The ideal candidate has hands-on skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC, can safely use hand and power tools, and responds to service requests and emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in mechanics, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and general maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
• Valid state driver's license and ability to obtain DOT licensure.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on hospital equipment, fixtures, and building systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance activities according to established schedules.
• Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical issues.
• Respond promptly to maintenance service requests and emergency repair needs.
• Inspect facilities and equipment to identify maintenance concerns and safety hazards.
• Maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems as assigned.
• Repair doors, locks, ceilings, flooring, furniture, and other facility components.
• Operate and maintain maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Document maintenance activities and completed work orders accurately.
• Support regulatory compliance and accreditation standards related to facility operations.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to after-hours emergencies as required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all hospital safety policies, procedures, and infection prevention protocols.
