Job summary

Howard University Hospital seeks a skilled Painter to join Facilities Management. You will perform painting across the Health Center—from prep to decorative finishes—keeping patient areas clean, safe, and welcoming for patients, families, and staff.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and journeyman painter qualifications or equivalent experience. Expect varied hours; wage range is defined by Local 2094. Training in HIPAA and compliance is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Journeyman painter qualification or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of journeyman painter qualifications to perform painting trades.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Availability to work days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Paint surfaces throughout the Health Center using brushes, spray guns and rollers.
• Prepare surfaces for painting and remove old paint.
• Select premixed paints or match colors.
• Repair damaged surfaces and fill holes and cracks.
• Create decorative effects and stencil surfaces as assigned.
• Operate painting tools and maintain safety standards.
• Support compliance and confidentiality requirements.
