Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to keep patient rooms and facilities safe, clean and fully functional. You will coordinate with vendors on construction projects, manage logs and PMs, and ensure timely repairs across interior and exterior environments.

The role requires 3–5 years of maintenance experience, excellent mechanical aptitude, and strong communication. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite is expected, with a focus on safety and regulatory

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of supplies, equipment, ordering process.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude.
• 3 to 5 years Maintenance experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.

Responsibilities

• Performs all maintenance functions to ensure safe, clean, comfortable and functioning patient rooms and interior/exterior environment.
• Act as a liaison for new construction projects, meets and coordinates with vendors, assists with technical designs and planned utility shutdowns.
• Maintains construction project turnover document files, logs, shift reports, PMs, work order closeouts and shift service reports; communicates changes promptly.
• Maintains patient environment of care; ensures room meets checklist requirements and communicates needs.
• Performs interior maintenance: changing bulbs, ballasts, switches, outlets, plumbing work, nurse call repairs, holes in walls, painting, ceiling tiles, moving furniture.
• Maintains PM schedule; completes PMs on time and follows up on additional work as needed.
• Assists during emergencies; responds promptly with required equipment.
• Requisitions parts and equipment; maintains inventory on site at correct levels.
• Maintains safe and clean work environment under OSHA standards and PPE.
