Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an Environmental Services Specialist to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment. This role covers patient care areas, public spaces, conference rooms, and surgical areas, with a focus on safe chemical handling and efficient cleaning workflows.

Primary hours are Mon–Fri, 9:00 am–6:00 pm, 40 hours per week. Benefits eligible, base pay range listed, and opportunities for professional growth within a large healthcare system.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate various cleaning equipment (machine scrubbers, carpet cleaners, waste compactors, balers, etc.).
• Ability to follow and understand oral and written instructions and communicate with others.
• Ability to work alone and understand facility layouts.
• Performs tasks without disrupting operations of doctors, nurses, patients, public, and staff.
• Ability to set priorities and follow department policies and procedures.
• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Cleans furniture and carpets in rooms, hallways, stairs, and offices using power equipment; refinishes floors and applies floor finish.
• Operates cleaning equipment; reports safety hazards and needed repairs; cleans equipment and supplies.
• Uses chemicals safely and references MSDS as needed.
• Sets up rooms for meetings and delivers audio visual equipment.
• Cleans patient care areas, restrooms, conference rooms, lobbies, and offices; performs terminal and project cleaning in surgical areas.
• Cleans all environmental surfaces and dusts/mops floors in various areas of the facility.
• Gathers and disposes recyclables, trash, and medical waste; handles linen and supplies.
