Job summary

CHS Career Site is seeking an Environmental Services Worker II in Mississippi to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment. You will perform floor care, waste handling, linen processing, and routine sanitization across patient rooms and common areas.

The role requires 1–3 years in environmental services or related fields, knowledge of infection control, and the ability to work independently or in a team within a fast-paced healthcare setting. CHEST/CHESP certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in environmental services, housekeeping, custodial work, or hospital facility maintenance.
• Knowledge of infection control standards and safety practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
• Certification in Environmental Services or Healthcare Cleaning (CHEST or CHESP) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs floor care tasks: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing, shampooing.
• Collects, removes, and disposes of waste including biohazardous materials per policy.
• Handles and processes soiled linens with proper containment and storage.
• Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas.
• Responds to spills and contamination cleanups with proper disinfection.
• Moves furniture and equipment as needed for cleaning or relocation.
• Monitors supply use and ensures safe storage and handling of materials.
• Communicates maintenance needs to supervisor for timely resolution.
• Maintains cleaning logs and reports completed tasks.
• Performs other duties and maintains regular attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
