Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking an Environmental Services professional to maintain clean, sanitary and orderly conditions throughout the Medical Center. You will clean patient rooms, offices, lavatories and common areas, service equipment, and handle waste in a safe, compliant manner.

Responsibilities include cleaning discharge rooms and isolation areas per infection control standards, maintaining carts and closets, and ensuring paper products are stocked.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Environmental Services experience in a hospital, preferred.
• Must possess effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate good judgment and organization when performing cleaning duties on units.
• Responsible for maintaining equipment, carts and closets daily.
• Clean and service patient rooms, offices, lavatories, conference rooms, lounges, exam rooms, on-call rooms, clean and dirty utility rooms, showers daily.
• Trash removal, vacuuming carpets, dry mop and wet mop floors, high and low dusting of furniture, walls, ledges and fixtures.
• Refill all paper towel, toilet paper, seat cover and soap dispensers daily.
• Notify supervisor of injuries, safety issues or serious personnel situations.
• Clean, disinfect patient rooms on discharge and cycle clean isolation rooms per control standards.
• Clean Operating rooms between cases, terminally clean OR rooms at end of day.
• Collect trash from dirty utility room and dispose of it.
• Remove cardboard and dispose of it.
• Collect regulated waste and transport to storage trailer.
• Remove and hang cubicle curtains when necessary.
• Be flexible to take on required assignments with initiative.
• Performs related duties as required.
