Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a Hospital Housekeeping Aide to scrub, strip, polish and refinish floors, operate ringers and floor machines, and keep hard surface areas clean and safe throughout the hospital.

This role emphasizes timely completion of tasks, safe waste handling, AIDET communication with patients and staff, and flexibility to support discharge room and OR cleaning during peak periods.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• 1–2 years of housekeeping experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Able to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Scrub, strips, polishes and refinishes floors and operates cleaning equipment safely.
• Clean or sanitize after emergencies and maintain clean work areas.
• Dispose of waste, manage recycling, and relocate furniture as needed.
• Cross‑train on discharge room cleans and OR cleaning during peak periods.
• Display courteous, patient‑focused interaction with hospital staff and patients.
• Utilize AIDET with internal and external customers and ensure confidentiality.
