Job summary

Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI Mercy Health) is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to clean patient rooms and hospital areas to protect patients and staff from infections. You will sweep, mop, dust, and use specialized equipment while learning proper disposal of biohazards and restocking supplies.

The role emphasizes safety, compassion, and maintaining a safe, comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• Healthcare experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for cleaning all nurses units, patients’ rooms and all other designated facility areas.
• Cleans walls, beds, commodes, mirrors, showers, fixtures, doors, closets, drawers, phones, inside windows, water fountains.
• Follows the department’s policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
• Cleans up major spills when necessary, responding to pages in a timely manner.
• Obtains all supplies and equipment for performance of tasks; cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
• Responsible for stripping, waxing and polishing floors.
