Job summary

CHI Mercy Health is seeking an Environmental Services Technician. You’ll keep patient rooms and all hospital areas clean and sanitized, protecting everyone from infectious diseases and other hazards.

Daily tasks include sweeping, mopping, dusting, and using specialized equipment to maintain a safe, sterile environment. You will follow proper disposal procedures for biohazard materials, refill soap and paper towel dispensers, deliver clean linens, and restock housekeeping carts.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for cleaning all nurses units, patients’ rooms and all other designated facility areas.
  • Cleans walls, beds, commodes, mirrors, showers, fixtures, doors, closets, drawers, phones, inside windows, water fountains.
  • Follows the department’s policies and procedures on cleaning, disinfecting and deodorization.
  • Cleans up major spills when necessary, responding to pages in a timely manner.
  • Obtains all supplies and equipment for performance of tasks; cleans and restocks housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
  • Responsible for stripping, waxing and polishing floors.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Environmental Services Technician, you'll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized. This protects everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards.

Every day, you will perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting. You will also use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize our facility. This role requires you to learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects. You may also refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other supplies, as well as deliver clean linens.
