Job summary

UPMC Altoona is seeking a full-time day-shift Housekeeper to support hospital sanitation and cleanliness. The role runs 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with rotation for weekends and holidays to cover patient care needs.

Starting pay is $14.64 per hour. The position involves operating department equipment, cleaning patient areas, and following Infection Control procedures while maintaining a safe, sanitary environment for staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Operate department equipment safely and maintain it after use.
• Climb ladders to hang drapes or reach areas for cleaning/disinfection.
• Clean and service hospital areas, move furniture, and maintain sanitary conditions.
• Wash walls, ceilings, windows, drapes, cubicles, and fixtures as required.
• Dispose of waste and keep wastebaskets clean and refilled.
• Use chemicals safely per guidelines and wear required PPE.
• Disinfect areas and patient rooms following infection control procedures.
• Transport supplies and assist with equipment moves as needed.
