Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in New Brunswick, NJ is seeking an Evening Housekeeper for the Environmental Services team. You will clean all patient and non-patient areas, dust, mop, disinfect, and prepare beds for new occupants while following isolation procedures as required.

The role requires using common cleaning tools, lifting up to 50 lbs, and rotating weekends/holidays. Join a team dedicated to safe, clean environments and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Must know how to use common housecleaning implements such as mops, floor waxes, and scouring pads.
• Ability to follow oral or written instructions.
• Work with constant concern for the safety of all people.
• Interacts in a positive manner with coworkers in all departments to accomplish hospital goals.

Responsibilities

• Cleans all patient and non-patient areas of the hospital, and other areas as directed.
• Dust, damp mop, spot clean and disinfect fixtures, furnishings in both patient and non-patient areas.
• Vacuum and spot-clean mats and carpets, as assigned.
• Empty, clean and re-line waste baskets.
• Transport regular and contaminated waste/linen to the utility room or proper areas.
• Wash and disinfect bed/crib at discharge and prepare beds for new occupants.
• Follow isolation cleaning procedures when cleaning isolation rooms to prevent the spread of pathogens.
• Clean and disinfect bathroom fixtures, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls as far as can be reached and replenish bathroom supplies if necessary.
• Notifies supervisor when supplies in the Environmental Services storage room are low.
• Report work orders when repairs are needed in assigned areas.
• Maintains tools and equipment in good condition; is responsible for economical use of supplies.
• Mechanical aptitude for operating machines and equipment may include hard floor surface maintenance- strip, refinish, burnish and shampoo carpets.
• Delivers clean linen throughout the facility.
• Enhances professional growth and development by attending in-service, required meetings and other educational programs.
