Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Housekeeping Aide to join its facilities team in New York, NY.

You will perform a full range of cleaning duties across patient and non-patient areas, typically working 3:00pm to 11:30pm on weekdays, independently or with a team. Responsibilities include floor maintenance, restroom cleaning, waste removal, restocking supplies, linen handling, and ensuring sanitary conditions throughout the medical center.

Qualifications

• No specific experience required; training or evidence of ability to perform housekeeping duties is acceptable.
• Flexible, able to work independently or in a team; strong attention to cleanliness and safety.
• Physical stamina for long periods of standing and performing repetitive cleaning tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform floor maintenance, wall washing, cleaning doors, frames, baseboards and edges in assigned areas.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, and dust, including patient care areas and restrooms.
• Empty trash, restock supplies, transport linens and waste, and clean patient rooms and furniture as needed.
