Job summary

Crothall Healthcare, a Compass Group company, seeks a Director of Engineering to lead Plant Operations & Maintenance at Mount Sinai Hospital. You will plan, prioritize, and control engineering and construction activities within the hospital campus.

Lead departmental budgets, ensure compliance with Joint Commission and regulatory standards, and manage CMMS and facilities teams to meet high-quality healthcare facility requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Engineering degree highly preferred.
• 5 years at a director level in engineering, maintenance, and construction in an acute care hospital.
• Facilities Management experience in an acute care hospital required.
• Proficiency in CMMS Systems, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• CHFM certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare building mechanical, structural, and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of NFPA, TJC, CMS, DNV, EPA, and OSHA codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and evaluates existing programs, services, policies and procedures.
• Meets with hospital client and staff to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and communicate programs and policies.
• Supervises flow and quality of work to assure completion of workload and adherence to standards.
• Prepares and leads departmental budgets, including utilities energy savings programs.
• Ensures compliance with Joint Commission, State Health Department, EPA, DEP, ADA, UST, and other regulatory requirements.
• Prepares performance evaluations for assigned personnel.
• Guides employees on personnel and employee relations programs.
• Plans, coordinates, and supervises construction and development of facilities.
• Reviews and approves plans for construction.
• Serves as liaison with contractors, architects, engineers, and suppliers.
