Job description

UW Medical Center - Montlake - Environmental Services department has multiple opportunities open for Fixed Duration (temporary) Hospital Custodian positions. These positions are benefits-eligible and anticipated to be up to 12 months in duration.

Work Schedule:

• Temporary positions anticipated to be up to 12 months in duration
• 100% FTE (40 hours per week)
• Evening shift: 4:30pm to 1:00am, weekend commitments

Position Highlights:

Under general supervision, maintain cleanliness and care of facilities in inpatient and non-patient areas and administrative offices.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Clean and disinfect all furniture, fixtures, and equipment according to procedure.
• Handle soiled linen, disinfect and remake beds, dust, and mop floors with disinfectant.
• Perform bloodborne pathogen and chemical spill cleanup as per procedures.
• Strip, clean, buff, and finish floors using appropriate equipment.
• Clean surgical, obstetrical, and invasive procedure rooms, including flood mopping and disinfecting.
• Vacuum and spot clean carpets; operate carpet shampooers and extractors.
• Clean patient and construction areas; clean interior and accessible exterior windows; manage cubicle curtains.
• Perform outdoor cleaning activities like snow removal and sidewalk sweeping using hand or small power tools.
• Follow safety policies and emergency procedures; report repairs or maintenance needs.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
