UW Medical Center - Montlake - Environmental Services department has multiple opportunities open for Fixed Duration (temporary) Hospital Custodian positions. These positions are benefits-eligible and anticipated to be up to 12 months in duration.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  1. Temporary positions anticipated to be up to 12 months in duration
  2. 100% FTE (40 hours per week)
  3. Evening shift
  4. 4:30pm to 1:00am, weekend commitments

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:

Under general supervision, the individual in this role will maintain cleanliness and care of facilities in inpatient and non-patient areas and administrative offices as assigned.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Cleans and disinfects all furniture, fixtures, and equipment according to procedure.
  2. Removes and properly handles soiled linen; disinfects and remakes beds in patient rooms; dust and wet mops hard floors with disinfectant.
  3. Performs bloodborne pathogen and chemical spill containment and clean-up according to procedure.
  4. Strips, cleans, buffs, and applies finish to floors. Uses high speed floor buffers, polishers, and automated floors scrubbers.
  5. Performs in between case cleaning and terminal cleaning of surgical, obstetrical, and invasive procedure rooms including flood mopping and disinfecting according to procedure.
  6. Vacuums and spot clean carpets; operates automated carpet shampooers and extractors.
  7. Transplant cleans patient and construction areas according to procedures.
  8. Cleans interior or easily accessible exterior windows. Takes down and rehangs cubicle curtains.
  9. Performs cleaning and related activities in areas within a reasonable distance outside of the facility using hand-operated tools or small power equipment to remove snow or debris, and sweep sidewalks or stairs.
  10. Complies with safety policies and procedures and medical center emergency and disaster procedures.
  11. Reports the need for repair and/or maintenance of furniture or equipment.
  12. Performs related duties as requested by the supervisor.
