MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Valid Driver's License.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Two (2) years operating a motor vehicle.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
EXPERIENCE:
1. One (1) year customer relations experience
2. One (1) year materials distributions experience
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Drives from hospital to offsite locations for pick-up of patient specimens, supplies, mail, reports, x-rays and other materials and delivers to proper location within hospital. Route is to be followed as per schedule, but may be adjusted by coordinators.
2. Responsible to act as liaison and communicate the needs of our customers back to the user department to facilitate a good working relationship.
3. Records and maintains a daily log of all activities as per courier logs and schedules.
4. Monitors and reports all problems arising from, specimen preservation, collection and documentation according to established basic criteria to Director and/or dispatchers.
5. Prepares and keeps clean all specimen carriers to ensure proper temperature for preservation of specimens and transports materials from hospital to outside locations following established universal precautions for handling of bio-hazard materials.
6. Fills courier vehicle with gasoline and routinely checks oil, windshield washer fluid, tires and other general maintenance. Responsible to report all actual and potential problems with vehicle to Director/supervisor.
7. Maintains cleanliness of hospital vehicles both interior and exterior
8. Maintains a working relationship with the Laboratory, Radiology and other hospital departments.
9. Performs other duties as assigned by Director, supervisor, and dispatcher to include delivering supplies to departments.
10. Keeps equipment in good maintenance by following the vehicle maintenance program.
11. Provides hands on training to backup couriers including route locations, logging, specimen handling, vehicle daily maintenance and schedule retention.
12. Ensures that laboratory specimens are submitted in the correct manner, delivered safely back to the main laboratory and distributed to specific laboratory areas.
