Job summary

St. Francis–Emory Healthcare, part of the ScionHealth network in Columbus, GA, seeks an accomplished COO to lead hospital operations and strategic initiatives.

The role drives patient care excellence, financial performance, and regulatory compliance while partnering with executive leadership to enhance staff engagement and community health impact. The COO will collaborate with the Market CEO and board, oversee budgeting, and ensure safety, privacy, and policy adherence across all departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, finance, or clinical specialty.
• Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years in healthcare administration or management, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Prior COO/CEO experience in healthcare is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall operational leadership for hospital services and administrative functions.
• Oversee budget development and financial performance to align with hospital goals.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines, including The Joint Commission.
• Partner with market leadership on strategic planning and organizational objectives.
• Support staff engagement and high morale across the organization.
• Collaborate with medical staff, board, and community to meet patient care needs.
• Attend executive committee and board meetings and manage privacy-related policies as applicable.
