The role provides incoming call handling for multiple hospital sites and emergency lines, answering calls, transferring when needed, and performing administrative duties. You will utilize the EMR system to retrieve room numbers, discharge dates, and staff contacts, and you will coordinate with on-call providers as schedules require.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of customer service experience or equivalent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Professionalism in telephone etiquette and information dissemination.

Responsibilities

• Answer all calls in a courteous, professional manner.
• Provide general information (phone numbers, hospital listings) to callers.
• Utilize the EMR system to retrieve patient room numbers, discharge dates, and contacts.
• Screen critical care and manage on-call communications; do not announce patient calls as required.
• Coordinate with providers per on-call schedules and make timely updates.
• Assist in troubleshooting and maintenance of internal communication systems.
• Route calls to appropriate staff or voicemail and document actions taken.
• Identify and alert staff to Codes and Alerts per procedures.
• Place and document international and long-distance calls for colleagues and patients.
