Job summary

Kaiser Honolulu is seeking a Telephone Operator to support hospital operations by managing the switchboard, paging systems, and information desk tasks. You will relay calls, dispatch services, and provide courteous service to patients and staff across clinics.

With 1+ year in communications or related roles, you will handle clerical duties, assist with on-call schedules, and maintain patient information flows while ensuring privacy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year communications operator or related experience within two years.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Customer service experience in a high-volume environment.
• Basic typing skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing and intranet PC applications.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• 10-key by touch.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties of telephone/switchboard operator.
• Receives, directs, scans, and relays routine and emergency calls/pages to appropriate areas and individuals before, during, and after clinic hours.
• Dispatches ESD and transport services before and after clinic hours.
• Provides appointment schedule information before and after clinic hours.
• Notifies supervisor and support centers when problems occur; logs incidents.
• Instructs staff on programming paging instrument Quiktel.
• Maintains regional on-call schedules and physician contact lists.
• Notifies data center when PRESTO refill line problems occur.
