University of Washington in Seattle seeks a Hospital Communications Representative/Telecom Dispatcher/PBX to join UW Medicine Operator Services. This 100% FTE, day-shift role connects callers to destinations across UWMC and Harborview Medical Center with a focus on prompt, courteous service.

You will handle incoming calls, transfer lines, provide visitor information, dispatch emergencies, paging, and monitor alarms as part of a 24/7 telecom team that supports patient care and staff.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, or GED Certificate; AND one year of experience as a Telephone Communications Operator, or equivalent. Six months of additional qualifying experience may substitute for required education.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a team setting
  • Computer skills, including competent keyboard abilities
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

Department Description

UW Medicine Telecom Team provides 24/7 coverage answering the UWMC and HMC switchboards

Our team values excellent customer service, timely response, accurate dispatch and paging, and courteous processing of calls

We receive, and route calls for our patients, their families, and staff
