Qualifications

• 3+ years of hospital billing denials and appeals experience.
• Strong UB-04 experience required.
• Experience with commercial payer denials, recoupments, and appeals.
• Epic Resolute Hospital Billing experience required.
• Comfortable calling insurance carriers and performing detailed payer follow-up.

Responsibilities

• Manage 25+ hospital accounts daily across multiple service lines.
• Research and resolve UB-04 denials and recoupments.
• Investigate denials related to authorization, COB, timely filing, medical records, and other technical issues.
• Review account history and determine the appropriate next action.
• Prepare, write, and submit payer appeals with supporting documentation.
• Perform heavy telephone follow-up with commercial insurance carriers.
• Monitor appeal status and complete follow-up within payer deadlines.
• Document all actions, payer responses, and next steps accurately in Epic.
• Work accounts based on dollar value, aging, and departmental priorities.
• Identify recurring denial trends and communicate findings to the team.

Addison Group is partnering with a large healthcare organization seeking experienced an Hospital Collector specializing in Denials & Appeals. This role is ideal for someone with strong UB-04 hospital billing experience who can independently investigate complex commercial payer denials and determine the appropriate next steps for resolution.

Job Description

The Hospital Collector will manage complex hospital billing denials and recoupments from investigation through appeal and resolution. This position will work primarily within Epic work queues and requires strong experience with commercial payers, appeal writing, and direct payer follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

• Work approximately 25+ hospital accounts per day across multiple facility service lines.
• Research and resolve complex UB-04 denials and recoupments.
• Investigate denials related to authorization, COB, timely filing, medical records, and other technical issues.
• Review account history and determine the appropriate next action.
• Prepare, write, and submit payer appeals with supporting documentation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of recent hospital billing (HB) denials and appeals experience.
• Strong UB-04 experience required.
• Experience with commercial payer denials, recoupments, and appeals.
• Experience writing appeals for no authorization, COB, timely filing, and other complex denials.
• Epic Resolute Hospital Billing experience required.
• Comfortable calling insurance carriers and performing detailed payer follow-up.
• Knowledge of medical records, EOBs/ERAs, denial codes, and healthcare reimbursement.
• Strong investigative and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to review previous account notes and independently determine next steps.
• Must be detail-oriented, resourceful, adaptable, and comfortable with changing priorities.

Additional Details

• Monday–Friday, 8-hour shift.
• Start time can range from 6:30 AM–8:00 AM and must remain consistent.
