Job summary

Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, Iowa, seeks a Certified Nurse Aide for the medical-surgical unit. The CNA may float to the Emergency Department as directed by the Acute Care Director. This is a .9 FTE position—72 hours per pay period—with Sundays through Saturdays, including weekends and holidays.

Starting pay is $17.60 per hour and increases with experience. Required: high school diploma or GED, CNA course completion, Iowa Direct Care Worker Registry active status, and BLS/CPR;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred and CNA training completed.
• Active status on the Iowa Direct Care Worker Registry and BLS/CPR certification required.
• Experience as hospital nurse aide preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine nurse aide duties on the medical–surgical unit.
• May float to the Emergency Department as directed by leadership.
• Maintain patient comfort and safety, document as required.

MCRHC is a 25-bed critical access hospital, including a Level 4 Trauma Center Emergency Room seeing 3,200 visits annually. The Surgical Services department performs over 1,300 procedures annually, including specialties General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Pain management, and Podiatry.

About The Job:

The Certified Nurse Aide performs routine and general nurse aide functions on the medical surgical patient care unit. The CNA may also float to the Emergency Department as directed by the Acute Care Director.

The Position:

Position Qualifications:

Education:

1. High school graduate or GED, preferred


2. Completion of Certified Nurse Aide course. Must be active on the Iowa Direct Care Worker Registry.


3. BLS/CPR for Health Care Provider Certification.

Experience:

1. Previous hospital nurse aide experience preferred.

Special Skills & Aptitudes:

1. Ability to perform detailed assignments, follow direction, understand work has interruptions, and relates to patients, hospital staff, and visitors.


2. Ability to recognize personal training needs and follow through to gain new competencies.


3. Ability to perform CPR.


4. Must have basic computer skills.
