Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a chaplain to provide direct spiritual and emotional care to patients, families and hospital staff under the Manager of Spiritual Care. This on-call role supports the hospital’s values and mission across service areas.

Qualifications include four ACPE-accredited CPE units (at least one unit or equivalent), hospital-setting experience, and demonstrated crisis ministry. Bilingual Spanish preferred to serve diverse patient populations.

Qualifications

• Four ACPE, Inc. accredited CPE units preferred; at least one unit or specified other qualifications is required.
• At least one ACPE unit or equivalent is required, with hospital experience valued.
• Demonstrated emotional and spiritual maturity to work in crisis settings.

Responsibilities

• Respectful, compassionate and timely attention to spiritual and emotional needs of patients and families throughout the hospital while on-call, or unit coverage during regular work hours.
• Reaching the On-Call Chaplain cumulative target as set forth by the department for all shifts worked depending upon the shift and level of acuity of patient needs.
• Contribute to a positive work environment via ministry to staff. Fully Meets Expectations: Extending the provision of hospital-wide services begun by day chaplains, e.g., blessing of the hands, imposition of ashes, etc., as needed in the hospital.
