Job summary

Saint Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ, seeks a Chaplain to serve as a vital spiritual leader and compassionate caregiver within our hospital community, providing essential spiritual counseling and support to patients, families, and staff.

You will deliver direct spiritual care, respond with empathetic presence, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to advocate for spiritual needs and integrate holistic care across the campus.

Qualifications

• Master's degree
• Clinical Pastoral Education: 4 units of CPE (1600 hours) in an accredited ACPE hospital center
• Board Certified Chaplain APC, within 24 - months of hire

Responsibilities

• Provides pastoral care, to patients and families in a timely manner and serves as a professional spiritual care resource
• Maintains accurate documentation in patient charts regarding spiritual care interventions, plans, and outcomes
• Advocates for patient rights in regard to spiritual, cultural, and psychosocial values and how they impact a patient and their support system response to their care
• Supports an interdisciplinary approach to pastoral care by participating in team meetings and rounds
• Provides education to patients and families about spiritual resources, advance directives, organ and tissue donation, ethics, and other spiritual issues that may arise
