Job description

Job Title: Revenue Cycle Biller

As a member of the revenue cycle process, billers are responsible for reviewing accounts, correcting claim edits, preparing and submitting claims to payers, posting all types of payments, and updating patient accounting systems. They support Patient Financial Services operations and perform other duties as assigned. The essential functions listed are not exhaustive and may include additional responsibilities within the revenue cycle process.

  • Follow up with insurance and financial counseling
  • Handle tasks in both front-end and back-end billing (2 in each)
  • Contact insurance companies and obtain insurance plan authorizations
Education Requirements

Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university; or a High School diploma or equivalent approved by the State Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization, plus four (4) years of full-time experience in interviewing, investigation, or related fields such as credit follow-up, collection, or bookkeeping. Equivalent education and experience may be considered, with thirty (30) semester credits equating to one (1) year of experience. All candidates must have at least a High School diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Complete paper and electronic claims promptly
  • Effectively use computer systems
  • Clearly document patient information in systems
  • Collaborate with other departments to complete billing
  • Process rejections, denials, and correspondence timely
  • Handle pre-authorizations, document responses, and follow up
  • Audit patient accounts for accuracy
  • Apply adjustments as needed
  • Provide billing customer service with accurate documentation
  • Process statements, review past due bills, and follow up on overdue accounts
  • Generate Patient Balance Aging and Insurance Aging reports, and follow up accordingly
  • Arrange payment schedules with patients
  • Escalate accounts to Supervisor when necessary
  • Attend training sessions to perform duties effectively
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor
Schedule

Monday to Friday, 9 am – 5 pm, no weekends or holidays. One-hour lunch break.
